Indoor Air Quality and Microbial Contamination
The Department of Environmental Health and Safety can conduct indoor air quality (IAQ) investigations as requested. The investigations may include industrial hygiene monitoring which includes:
- Taking measurements of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.
- Dry bulb temperature.
- Relative humidity.
- Illumination (lighting).
- Airborne dust.
- Observing mechanical ventilation.
There is no cost for requesting the department for basic IAQ investigation. Air, bulk and water samples for microbial make-up (i.e., fungi and bacteria) can also be collected and analyzed at an additional cost to the requesting department. A summary report can be prepared and anyone with questions or concerns, has the ability to contact the department for further assistance.
