Students
Athletics/Recreation
The campus recreation program at Stevens offers a variety of options for students to stay physically fit and active in both organized sport and wellness related activities. The club sports program is available for those students who would like a more competitive athletic experience while continuing their involvement in a particular sport or learning a new sport competing against other colleges and universities. Intramural sports provide students the opportunity to form teams with fellow students and compete against other teams within the university.
Stevens Campus Recreation also offers a wide variety of fitness related group exercise classes such as spinning, yoga, and boot camp in our brand-new fitness center located in the University Center Complex. Students pay a discounted rate for these classes. Additional recreational opportunities include hiking and other outdoor adventure trips and students may participate in open recreation sports like swimming, basketball soccer, badminton, frisbee, spike ball, tennis, and many others within the athletic facilities.
Student Health Services
Student Health Services is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is staffed by a director who is an Advanced Practice Nurse DNP, a Registered Nurse, and a Certified Medical Assistant. A contracted Physician’s Assistant is available during the academic year, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., for the testing and treatment of episodic and acute illness or injury. For chronic illnesses or more urgent health care needs, students can be referred to local urgent care facilities. For times when Health Services is closed, a 24-hour emergency nurse line is available to all students.
Student Counseling and Disability Services hosts an annual Wellness Fair in fall to offer resources to and promote healthy lifestyle practices among students. The Wellness Fair features yoga sessions, healthy food sampling, massage therapy, hypnotherapy, nutrition guidance, blood pressure screening, rapid Covid testing, and information on sexually transmitted infections, hand hygiene, and dental care. The staff at Student Health Services offers wellness tabling events and outreach to students at different campus locations throughout the school year.
Student Support
The Office of Student Support manages the Stevens CARE Team and supports wellness programming.
The CARE Team is a network of Stevens professionals that provide a support system for students. The CARE Team responds to referrals from any individual or entity raising non-time-sensitive concerns about the health and/or well-being of a Stevens student. The CARE Team recommends appropriate intervention strategies, connects referred students with available campus and community resources, and monitors ongoing behavior of referred students. The CARE Team strives to promote individual well-being and success while prioritizing community safety.
The Office of Student Support provides presentations, trainings, and events for students and staff on a variety of wellness topics. One example is the annual Strive to THRIVE community wellness fair. Strive to THRIVE is a collaborative event organized by the Offices of Student Support, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Undergraduate Student Life, and Graduate Student Life. Strive to THRIVE is a wellness fair focused on the mind, body, and soul of our students to promote mental, physical, and emotional wellness. The event features depression screenings, campus and community partners, volunteer organizations, local gyms and wellness centers, information tables, alcohol and other drug resources, mental health information, healthy snacks, and more.
