A brief description of the institution’s rainwater management policy, plan, and/or guidelines that supports the responses above:
Stevens has committed to build all new construction to a LEED Silver standard (at minimum), and requires that stormwater management be present in the projects.

The newest buildings on campus (Gateway Complex (2 buildings) and University Center Complex (2 buildings)) received LEED Gold recognition. As part of the LEED application for the UCC, Stevens pursued and achieved the outdoor water use reduction credit. The UCC project includes micro-bioretention gardens, green roofs on the University Center and a bridge that joins the two towers, lawns, and native plantings. There is also a 12,000 rainwater harvesting tank underneath the UCC plaza. The stormwater that makes its way to the tank is used to support the irrigation system.

Given the standards set by LEED, any future new construction projects will have a built-in rainwater management plan so that Stevens always attains at least Silver.
