1. University Center Complex
a. Total Square Footage: 395,000 SF
b. What Work Was Done: The University Center Complex consists of two Residential Towers and a University Center. The two Residential Towers at 19 and 21 floors and consist of 937 beds, 644 rooms and 374 suites all together. All student rooms have glass windows to allow for natural light and for exceptional views of either the New York City or the Stevens campus and the City of Hoboken. The three-story University Center can be found at the base of the towers. It is open to all students and consists of administrative offices, spaces for events and student organizations, a dining marketplace, a restaurant, a game room, lounge space, a state-of-the-art health and physical fitness center and a conference center.
2. Gateway
a. Total Square Footage: 89,500 SF
b. What Work Was Done: The Gateway Academic Complex is 5 stories above grade and one floor below grade. The North building (located on the northeast corner of the intersection) includes research laboratories for Healthcare Innovation and Smart Energy. It also includes the Department of Computer Science, general classrooms and ground-level public gathering space and café. The South building (located at the southeast corner of the intersection) includes the offices for the Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education, the Department of Computer Science as well as general classrooms and offices. In total the complex is comprised of a total of 10 smart classrooms, 13 advanced labs, 45 faculty offices and features a large lecture staircase. The design and engineering of the Gateway Academic Complex consisted of sustainable design solutions to the extent practicable in its planning, systems design, and fit out.
Both new construction projects received LEED Gold recognition.
