Does the institution conduct an assessment of sustainability culture?:
Yes

Which of the following best describes the cultural assessment? The assessment is administered to::
The entire campus community (students and employees) directly or by representative sample

Which of the following best describes the structure of the cultural assessment? The assessment is administered::
Longitudinally to measure change over time

A brief description of how and when the cultural assessment(s) were developed and/or adopted:
In Spring 2022, a student intern reviewed assessments conducted by other universities and researched important “sustainability lifestyle” questions that would be good at analyzing the sustainability culture at Stevens. It was decided that separate assessments should be conducted for students and employees to better personalize them. There is variance in the questions based on the different campus experiences students and employees have.

A brief description of how representative samples were reached (if applicable) and how the cultural assessment is administered:
The assessments were advertised through email announcements, Stevens’ newspaper, and social media. The assessments were made available to all students and all employees. The cultural assessment was open for a few weeks to ensure students and employees had time to respond. Only those with a Stevens email address could access the assessment.

The assessments were first administered as a test run in Spring 2022. Then, to establish a normal course of action, the assessments were administered again in Fall 2022. The plan is to administer the assessments each fall to measure change over time.

A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment:
Student interns prepared reports that summarized the results from Spring 2022 and Fall 2022. Those reports are included in the optional documentation.
In general, Stevens students and employees are doing many things right but there is definite room for improvement. They also have basic beliefs that will allow them to be sustainable stewards but the key is to transfer beliefs into action. Stevens as an institution can do more to improve the sustainability culture by making this transition easier.
