A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
Stetson University has its 185-acre main campus in DeLand, Florida. Both the Gillespie Museum (minerals) and the Hand Art Center (museum) are located on the main campus. The university has a satellite campus at the 10-acre Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center on Lake Beresford, a mere 15-minute drive from the main campus. Stetson University's College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida is not included in this STARS submission since its operations are distinct from those on the main campus. The College of Law was not included in Stetson's only previous STARS submission (2012), so excluding it again will allow us to evaluate our progress over the past 10 years.
Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? | Included? | |
Agricultural school | No | --- |
Medical school | No | --- |
Other professional school with labs or clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) | No | --- |
Museum | Yes | Yes |
Satellite campus | Yes | Yes |
Farm larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres | No | --- |
Agricultural experiment station larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres | No | --- |
Hospital | No | --- |
The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:
Stetson University has a law school in St. Petersburg, Florida which is operationally distinct from the DeLand campus and was not included in our 2012 STARS submission. Therefore, limiting the current assessment to the DeLand campus will allow for more meaningful measurement of progress across time.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The "satellite campus" referred to above refers to the 10-acre Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center, home of the Stetson Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience, on Lake Beresford. It is also in DeLand but separate from the main campus. The site was opened in the spring of 2019.
