Sterling College is one of only nine federally recognized work colleges. Every student on campus has a job that either directly benefits the community at Sterling or the local area. In addition, there is an All College Work Day set aside each semester for work on building community.

In addition, many students complete an internship, called a Practicum in Environmental Stewardship, to meet their graduation requirements and these unpaid internship hours make up 2,490 of the total reported here.
