A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

Fall 2021 - New employee orientation provided by ESF's Office of Human Resources was virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Office of Sustainability developed slides, recorded a video explaining the slides and created an accompanying quick reference sheet for new employee orientation. Content covered included: sustainability staff team and contact information, sustainability related rankings/awards/commitments, goals related to STARS, energy & emissions, and zero waste, and an overview of how new employees can get involved with sustainability on campus.

Fall 2022: New employee orientation provided by the Office of Human Resources returned to an in person format. The Office of Sustainability created a new presentation, which was featured in October and December 2022 orientations. Human Resources will include the Office of Sustainability in all new employee orientation presentations moving forward. Content covered included: an overview of ESF, sustainability staff intros, an overview of key sustainability programs(ex: College's Green Purchasing & Break Free From Plastic Policy and associated Green Purchasing Guide, reusable menstrual cups, reusable containers, mini trash bins, trash/recycling audits, Sustainability Ambassadors Program, Sustainable Event Certification, campus energy dashboard, virtual campus sustainability tour) and took a deep dive into zero waste and circularity. The final slide provides links to all resources discussed in the presentation.

Orientation content will continually be updated as programs evolve and change.

All employees at ESF, regardless of length of service to the campus, are routinely encouraged to visit the College's sustainability website for more information about sustainability at ESF and to follow the Office of Sustainability on social media (Facebook and Instagram) and ESF Engage for the most up to date content and information about events.
