A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
ESF's Office of Sustainability maintains a list of all academic courses offered at the College that meet the AASHE definitions of "Sustainability-Focused" and "Sustainability-Inclusive/Related." This list is organized by academic department (or equivalent), and includes the course number, course title, and a brief description that indicates how sustainability is the focus of the course or integrated into the course curriculum. Courses can only be included in one of the two classifications, but not both. Courses with multiple sections or were offered both semesters were counted as one course here.
In 2022, a graduate student employee reviewed the existing course list and updated it based on the current course catalog and information available. This updated list was reviewed, revised, and verified by Office of Sustainability staff to ensure the list met the current AASHE reporting guidelines and ESF course offerings. Staff contacted individual professors to provide clarification about how sustainability topics were the focus of or integrated into the course curriculum, on an as needed basis.
