Sustainability Champions
A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
The Sustainability Champions initiative was launched in January 2020. Faculty and staff members were invited to attend monthly presentations (during the academic year). 2020 topics included: "Sustainable ESF," "Zero Waste ESF," "COVID-19 Cant Stop the Progress," and, "Caring for Household Plants." These sessions shared key information about sustainability programs and progress at the College, informed attendees about ways that they can be involved, and how to integrate sustainability into their lives off campus. Each session ended with a request to share this information with their peers and a follow up survey was sent to gauge how far information spreads.

Custodial Staff Member Sustainability Training
A brief description of the employee educators program (2nd program):
Custodial staff members attend monthly training sessions to discuss sustainability at the College (particularly zero waste). These training sessions include other custodial specific information, but every session includes content about source reduction, recycling, and compost efforts. Custodial staff members helped to develop the College's current compost program (bin and bag selection, and education/outreach) during these sessions. Staff also shared their experiences in each building and described/discussed aspects of the materials management program that were working well and areas where there could be improvement.
Some custodial staff members opted to further sort compost and recyclable materails at the College, based upon what they learned in these sessions. Building occupants oftentimes ask staff members what belongs in each bin, and in this way, custodial staff members help to educate the larger campus community.
