Centennial Hall Addition is a student residence hall project that is operated through ESF's College Foundation. The original building was opened for the Fall 2011 semester and was certified LEED Gold. In Fall 2014, a 34,000 square foot, 84-bed addition was opened. Based upon the success of the original construction, the addition was designed and constructed to the same LEED Gold standards as the original building, however, the College Foundation did not seek LEED certification for the addition.

In December 2018, ESF completed construction of the Roosevelt Wildlife Education and Research Center in 5,715 SF of previously unoccupied space in the basement of its Gateway Center. The project, which was designed and constructed to LEED V4 ID&C Platinum for Interior Design and Construction standards, includes specimen storage, educational and research space associated with the college's one-of-a-kind Roosevelt Wildlife Collection. The College anticipates LEED certification in 2019.

Do the green building guidelines or policies cover the following?:
Yes or No
Impacts on the surrounding site (e.g. guidelines to reuse previously developed land, protect environmentally sensitive areas, and otherwise minimize site impacts) Yes
Energy consumption (e.g. policies requiring a minimum level of energy efficiency for buildings and their systems) Yes
Building-level energy metering Yes
Use of environmentally preferable materials (e.g. guidelines to minimize the life cycle impacts associated with building materials) Yes
Indoor environmental quality (i.e. guidelines to protect the health and comfort of building occupants) Yes
Water consumption (e.g. requiring minimum standards of efficiency for indoor and outdoor water use) Yes
Building-level water metering Yes

A brief description of the green building guidelines or policies and/or a list or sample of buildings covered:

ESF has several separate policies that serve as green buildings guidelines

These include:

- Space Churn Renovation Plan and Policy
- Low-Impact Site and Green Building Exterior Management Plan
- Erosion & Sedimentation Policy
- College Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling Policy
- Sustainable Materials and Supplies Purchasing Policy (adopted Jan.11,2011)

A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:

The Governor of the State of New York has issued an Executive Order that requires all new building construction and major renovations to be designed and constructed, at a minimum, to be certifiable at a LEED "silver" level. The State University Construction Fund is given construction authority for the State University of New York's campuses. In selecting design and construction management consultants for a major project experience and success with LEED is included among qualifications. LEED status and compliance is actively tracked during design and during construction. Systems are monitored, post-construction, to make certain that they are operating as intended.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

Capital construction projects on state-owned land at ESF are designed and constructed under the authority of the State University Construction Fund and SUCF's Program Directives including:
= Directive 1B-2 - Net Zero Carbon New Buildings and Deep Energy Retrofits of
Existing Buildings.
= Directive 1B-7 - Energy, Sustainability, LEED and Executive Orders

Directive 1B-2 addresses SUNY's energy and carbon use reduction goals and provides construction project targets goals and design direction for new buildings, deep energy retrofits of existing buildings, and partial building renovations or system/component replacements

Directive 1B-7 provides requirements for compliance with Executive Order No. 88 and requires new and major rehab building projects to be designed to LEED Silver rating.

These directives may be found in their entirety at SUCF's website: https://www.sucf.suny.edu/design/projdirp.cfm
