Purchase College is a public institution of higher learning guided by a motto of "Think Wide Open" to guide students to find inspiration outside the typical boundaries of academic programs. Students are taught to think creatively and to apply unconventional approaches to problem-solving. Purchase graduates gain an appreciation for the big picture and the ability to communicate effectively across boundaries and disciplines—useful skills in any career. It is part of the 64 campus SUNY system. The institutional boundary includes all academic buildings and operations totaling 500 acres.
