The Purchase College sustainability websites houses important information regarding the initiatives, news and resources at the college.

A brief description of the sustainability newsletter:

A monthly sustainability newsletter email gets sent to students, faculty and staff who have opted to receive the newsletter. The email is written by the Sustainability Coordinator and includes programs, events, tips, updates and other opportunities for the community to be involved in sustainability.

The Environmental Studies Program publishes and disseminates student work online, at Science Symposium events, and via other presentations. The Library also houses an archive of student research.

Yes

Signage is posted at appropriate locations of new construction and/or renovation on campus. Our first LEED Gold certified academic building has about 11 signs throughout the building noting and describing its sustainable features such as energy efficient lighting, green cleaning, alternative transportation, etc.

Extensive signage in our dining facilities provide information about local farms from which we buy produce, sustainable seafood sourcing, organic foods, cage-free egg sourcing, vegan and vegetarian information, and more.

During summer orientation a sustainability walking tour is available as one of the activities new students can participate in. This tour is available anytime of year if the Sustainability Coordinator is contacted. There is also a virtual tour available online to showcase sustainable attributes to the campus.

A great deal of information about carpooling, use of Zip Cars, train and bus schedules, bicycle registration, etc., is disseminated electronically to the entire campus community.

Information is disseminated at student orientations and seminars. Information about recycling and other sustainability efforts is made available electronically, and posters are put up in residence halls.
