SUNY Oswego has committed the resources of (3) campus leaders to participate in the CNYREDC's Environmental Justice Task Force, including its Sustainability Manager, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, and Deputy to the President.

Partnerships are inclusive and participatory and underrepresented groups and/or vulnerable populations are engaged as equal partners.

SUNY Oswego and the City of Oswego have partnered to monitor wastewater in an effort to analyze sewage for traces of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Testing helps us to identify COVID-19 on our campus and limit spread to others.

Beyond wastewater testing, testing for COVID-19 and vaccinations were made available through creating a temporary testing/vaccination site that was available for all community members (on and off-campus) to eliminate accessibility challenges regarding to the health of our community.

SUNY Oswego partners with both the County's Health and Planning Departments for COVID-19 testing and analysis, and environmental justice efforts, respectively.

Testing for COVID-19 and vaccinations were made available through creating a temporary testing/vaccination site that was available for all community members (on and off-campus) to eliminate accessibility challenges regarding to the health of our community.


A brief description of the institution’s other community partnerships to advance sustainability:

Rice Creek Field Station, a unit of SUNY Oswego, is dedicated to the support of academic instruction, research, and public service in all aspects of natural history, especially the natural sciences and environmental education.

Located one mile south of the main campus, our year-round facilities provide opportunities for field-oriented biological and earth science teaching and research. Guiding this effort is the mission of Rice Creek to be a living laboratory for the advancement of knowledge through ecological research, education, and stewardship of the natural world.
