Does the institution have a local offsets program through which the institution seeks to offset its greenhouse gas emissions by implementing projects that reduce GHG emissions in the local community?:
Yes
None
A brief description of the program:
RC (Research Council) has sequestered over 19,000 tons of carbon for the forest since it's inception in 1966. Annually it sequesters an additional 15 tons of carbon. If we compare these numbers with the 7.6 tons by 1,000 sq. ft. by year we could appreciate that maintaining Rice Creek and it's ecological intergrity counts a lot towards the University goal of sustainability. This has been a major element in decreasing SUNY-Oswego's carbon footprint.
