A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
The College Senate is the representative body through which faculty, staff, and students participate in shared governance and college affairs at SUNY Oneonta. It provides a forum for the campus community to participate in the initiation, development, and implementation of the educational mission of the college. The College Senate is empowered to act for SUNY Oneonta faculty in all matters, procedures, and prerogatives in its meetings.

The SUNY Oneonta Student Association is the college's student government, comprised of three coequal branches. The Student Association Senate is comprised of 25 Senators and 10 Executive Committee Members. Together, we serve as the liaison between administration, faculty, and students. We sit on external committees where we voice student input on the decisions made that affect all of the campus community.
