This group will oversee and advocate for the sustainability-related initiatives put forth in the college's strategic plan. More specifically, the group is charged with the following:

To advise and make recommendations to the president on issues and concerns having to do with sustainability in the curriculum, co-curricular activities, and other educational activities on this campus;
To advise and make recommendations to the president on issues and concerns having to do with improving sustainability in the operations, facilities and grounds of this college;
To identify opportunities to increase collaboration with the local community, other local institutions, and other campuses in the SUNY system; and
To help communicate the goals and outcomes of sustainability initiatives to the campus and wider communities of this region.


The mission of the President's Advisory Committee on Sustainability (PACS) is to develop, facilitate, and advocate for sustainability-related initiatives throughout the campus community.

A brief description of each sustainability office:
The Office of Sustainability works to coordinate sustainability initiatives at all level of the college and engages with faculty, staff, and students. The Sustainability Coordinator, who operates the Office of Sustainability, works to increase sustainability within and throughout academics, engagement, operations, and planning and administration.

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
A Sustainability Master Plan was written in collaboration with the PACS committee and is currently under review for endorsement by the President. Sustainability has been integrated into Residence Life by creating sustainability positions for RAs in each building. An intersession energy conservation program has been coordinated reducing electricity consumption. Environmentally themed lecture and event series, and Earth Week activities are popular among staff and students and expected every year. Sustainable Susquehanna, a workshop hosted each spring to help faculty meaningfully integrate sustainability – broadly defined – into their classrooms has trained 42 faculty thus far.
