Adjusted net GHG emissions

Adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net GHG emissions 11,128 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 15,185 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Performance and baseline periods

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date Jan. 1, 2020 Jan. 1, 2013
End date Dec. 31, 2020 Dec. 31, 2013

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:
We have good data for student numbers going back to 2013.

Part 1. Reduction in GHG emissions per person

Weighted campus users

Figures needed to determine “Weighted Campus Users”:
Performance year Baseline year
Number of students resident on-site 3,533 3,685
Number of employees resident on-site 15 13
Number of other individuals resident on-site 5 4
Total full-time equivalent student enrollment 6,513 6,610
Full-time equivalent of employees 1,070 980
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education 671 0
Weighted Campus Users 6,076 6,621

Metrics used in scoring for Part 1

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user 1.83 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 2.29 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Percentage reduction in adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user from baseline:
20.14

Part 2. GHG emissions per unit of floor area

Performance year floor area

Gross floor area of building space, performance year:
2,400,525 Gross square feet

Floor area of energy intensive building space, performance year:
Floor area
Laboratory space 36,851 Square feet
Healthcare space 10,000 Square feet
Other energy intensive space 85,200 Square feet

EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
2,579,427 Gross square feet

Metric used in scoring for Part 2

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per unit of EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
0.00 MtCO2e per square foot

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
There was a reduction in emissions because of reduced campus operations due to COVID in the performance year. The performance year for this credit is different than the year data is provided for in PRE-5 causing a discrepancy between the two credits in weighted campus users. Jan 2020- Dec 2020 is the performance year in this credit and PRE-5 data is provided from 2021-22.
