In 2021, all campus employees were invited to have the Office of Campus Sustainability pay their way to Second Nature's Climate Action Pursuits year-long training to support the campus' carbon reduction and carbon neutrality efforts.

The Office of Sustainability conducts annual sustainability trainings for the following employees at SUNY New Paltz:
* Facilities Management staff attended the Zero Net Carbon Trainings during the spring and fall of 2020
* Office of Communications and Marketing Training on the Global Goals for Sustainable Development for all staff in the spring of 2020
* Introduction to the Global Goals for Sustainable Development offered to all campus employees during the January Training of 2020 and Global Goals Week of 2020
* Global Goals for Sustainable Development Introductory Training for Administrative Council in the fall of 2019
* Global Goals for Sustainable Development Explorations with the Strategic Planning and Assessment Council


A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :

The Office of Design and Construction staff participated in an 8-module training series called Zero Net Carbon Training with Passive House Principles. The training was led by Steven Winter Associates and was funded by NYSERDA.
