Exemplary Policy: Discontinuation of the Sale of Bottled Water at SUNY New Paltz
None
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
On December 10, 2014, the board of directors of Campus Auxiliary Services (CAS) unanimously voted to to discontinue the sale of bottled water on the SUNY New Paltz campus. Campus Auxiliary Services and its contractors provide dining, beverage, and vending services to SUNY New Paltz. This policy will take effect beginning in the summer of 2015 when a new beverage and vending contract will be in place. When students return to classes in the fall of 2015, bottled water will no longer be available for sale on campus. For many years, students, staff, and faculty have been researching water bottle issues on campus and preparing the campus for this step. In the fall of 2014, SUNY New Paltz retrofitted or installed new refill stations in 34 locations in 20 buildings. Retrofits for new refill stations will continue until the policy is fully implemented in the Fall of 2015. http://sites.newpaltz.edu/news/2014/12/college-to-end-bottled-water-sales/
