If total performance year carbon sinks are greater than zero, provide:
The West Coast Climate and Materials Management Forum suggests: (- 0.24 MTCO2e sequestered, per US-Ton of composted material); we only compost about 2.0 US-Tons a year, but it's a start.

Performance and baseline periods

Start date | July 1, 2022 | July 1, 2014 |
End date | June 30, 2023 | June 30, 2015 |
A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:
New York State (NYS) Energy Authorities (NYSERDA, NYSDEC, NYPA, and the NYS GreenNY Council) have agreed to utilize FY 2014-2015 July 1, 2014 thru June 30, 2015 as the baseline (data) year toward achieving their published 2030, 2040, and 2050 carbon reduction goals. As a State University of New York, we are following this directive (Originally documents were written choosing 1990 as the baseline year, however data to support this as a baseline year was lacking.)
Our current Performance Year is FY-2022-2023: July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:
Our campus has just completed a Clean Energy Master Plan, which lays out a workable method to move forward with campus electrification, renewable energy projects and the NY State efforts to clean the grid.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
See the campus Clean Energy Master Plan (CEMP). All emission factors are from IPCC 2006/2021 for Natural Gas and Delivered Fuels https://www.epa.gov/egrid The Electric factors utilized are from eGrid for the closest previous year specified. Total campus building space including barns and other lighting electrified but unconditioned space is: 1,989,963 GSF - Gross Square Feet (Source SUNY AiM). The campus space that is intended for human occupancy, and is conditioned with either heating or cooling is: 1,565,153 GSF (Source SUNY Aim - subset). Future iterations of AASHE STARS should prefer the conditioned space GSF number, but this information is not requested as part of the directives for Pre-4 Operational Characteristics.
Note: OP-01 requested 3rd party verification of GHG - Green House Gas inventory, which was completed in AUGUST of 2023, as part of the SUNY Morrisville Clean Energy Master Plan (CEMP), via Ramboll Energy Engineering company, based on data from FY-2018-2019 and FY-2019-2020.
OP-02 requests data from our current Performance Year which is FY-2022-2023 (not the same as our 3rd party verivied CEMP data from FY-2018-2019 and FY-2019-2020, report published in August 2023), this difference shows a reduction of GHG over time.
