A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):

Free Movie Series on Sustainability Topics
SUNY Morrisville held free showing of three sustainability movies and provided refreshments.  Movie descriptions as follows:

"Tapped" - Is access to clean drinking water a basic human right, or a commodity that should be bought and sold? This is a film about the big business of bottled water.
+10 community members and 6 campus participants were in attendance.

"Addicted to Plastic"- Three years of filming in 12 different countries examining plastic pollution and the people dedicated to cleaning it up.
+ 8 campus participants were in attendance.

"Racing to Zero"- Only 1/3 of the waste in the United States is recycled or composted. This film examines why that is and the communities involved in the collective zero waste effort.
+8 campus participants were in attendance.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):

Though it could have been better attended, the movie series was well received and sparked engaging conversations following the showings. The first show was attended by community members which made for a very enriching event for all participants.

Audience members gained a better understanding of some difficult-to-solve sustainability topics.

Optional Fields

A brief description of other sustainability-related outreach campaigns:

Outreach to students about the:
Reusable Container Program at Seneca Dining Hall

Students at Seneca Dining Hall are issued two re-useable to-go containers as part of most meal plans. For a student to get a clean container, they need to bring back the previous containers to the cashier.  If a container is lost or forgotten, a student can purchase a new containers however, a plan can only ever have two containers assigned.

SUNY Morrisville students/faculty and staff reduced the amount of garbage hitting our local landfill by utilizing these reusable containers. The impact was mostly noticed in refuse collection from our residence halls.
