The Geneseo 2021 Strategic Plan is an all-encompassing plan that strives to uphold SUNY Geneseo's ideals regarding curriculum, transformational learning experiences, and co-curricular life. The plan takes into account SUNY Geneseo's 5 core values, one of which is sustainability. The President's Commission on Sustainability focuses on ways to accomplish the 2021 Plan with a focus on all three pillars of sustainability.

The Plan as a whole addresses curriculum management as well as academic advisement/planning. There are no specific objectives involving both sustainability and Curriculum objectives, but the Curriculum objectives in the plan must fall under all five values, one of which is sustainability. Previously, surveys have been sent out to gage sustainability courses.

"Sustainability: a requisite foundation of individual, institutional and societal resilience (“when we build, ... we build for ever”). We see our residential academic community as one that nurtures individual resilience. Institutionally, we aim to sustain the reputation of the College for quality education; to build financial sustainability, in order to have the means to fulfill our expectations and achieve our aims; and to sustain and renew the College’s physical assets. We also hope to be an exemplar of environmental sustainability."
