A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
The eGarden is a one acre plot on campus dedicated to education and research dealing with renewable energy, waste, and agriculture. It is a partnership between various college departments and Campus Auxiliary Services. There are a few dozen students from various disciplines working on self guided projects that are supervised by faculty members from various departments. In addition to the one acre plot there is a sun-tracking PV array, a 3.5kw wind turbine, organic garden beds and a barn to house indoor projects. The barn will be heated by waste vegetable oil from the campus dinning halls. The compost made from campus landscape debris and food scraps will be used in the gardens.
