Does the institution have sustainability-themed housing (residential floor or hall, or theme house) where residents learn about sustainability together and to which residents must apply?:
A brief description of the themed housing, including name(s) and descriptions of theme(s):
The "Eco House" is a new housing option that will occupy all of Putnam hall that was formed in Fall 2010. Students are encouraged to organize and find the best ways to live sustainably in a non-LEED certified residence hall. There are several opportunities in the Eco House to listen to professors give short lectures about environmental issues as well as opportunities to learn more about sustainability initiatives and environmental groups on campus.
Monroe Hall, a LEED certified Silver building, also actively incorporates sustainability into everyday student life, equipped with meters in to display energy usage and savings, rain water collection systems used for non-potable water needs, and geo-thermal heating and cooling.
