This past year the Office of Volunteer and Community Services received the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll Award, which recognizes colleges and universities nationwide that support innovative and effective community service programs. It is the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement. The Honor Roll is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, and is sponsored by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. During this past year our students have put forth great effort in performing a variety of volunteer and community services activities throughout the local area and beyond. 1745 SUNY Fredonia students performed over 14,000 hours of volunteer service during the 2009-2010 academic year.
