Farmingdale State College is committed to Equity and Inclusive Excellence by creating an educational environment that is centered on building a foundation of broad and integrative knowledge of histories, cultures, science, societies, technology along with genuine appreciation of ethics, diversity and inclusion.

FSC has numerous DEI committees, including the college-wide DEI advisory council, the nursing DEI advisory council, and the multicultural committee. We have an office designated to DEI with a full-time VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence and Chief Diversity Officer working out of the office.

College-Wide DEI Advisory Council
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Council of Farmingdale State College (FSC) is composed of justice-minded faculty, staff, and students who work in concert and under the guidance of the FSC Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence and Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Kevin Jordan. The Advisory Council supports and advocates for DEI-related initiatives that emerge from both FSC and SUNY. Lastly, the Advisory Council serves as a space to foster belongingness through programming and campus-wide representation including efforts to ameliorate DEI-related concerns that are brought to the Council's attention.

Mission Statement of College-Wide DEI Advisory Council
The mission of the FSC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council is to:
Promote an atmosphere of belongingness and inclusivity throughout FSC.
Support the DEI-related efforts of FSC and SUNY. The goal is to provide a platform for all those throughout the diverse FSC community to raise their voice around issues of DEI.

Multicultural Committee (Sitting committee within the college governance)
The aim of the Multicultural Committee is to disseminate information about diversity and to contribute to the creation of a well informed and supportive community through practical engagement. In keeping with the Farmingdale State College Mission, our goal is to promote a culture of diversity and mutual support, so that students and the community know that Farmingdale State College and the State University of New York are committed to fostering a culture of equality, one that celebrates multiculturalism, and stands for equality.
