Narrative outlining the data collection process used in the preparation of this report:

Data collection for the AASHE STARS report followed the below approach and timeline:

  1. Division of Responsibility: The SUNY Cortland Sustainability Office led the data collection and reporting effort. Credits were divided among the office of sustainability staff based on their role and responsibilities.

  1. Identification of Data Providers and Outreach: When reaching out to offices outside of Sustainability for data collection, a spreadsheet with links to the Help Center and Technical Manual were provided along with a meeting to go over the data being collected and offering an opportunity for questions to be asked.

  1. Ongoing Communication and Engagement: Members met twice a week during the Fall 2024 semester when data was being collected and the report populated and emailed in-between meetings with updates and questions when needed.

  1. Data Maintenace, Review and Uploading: The data was kept in a master spreadsheet on a shared drive to be reviewed by Sustainability Office members when needed. Data was reviewed by the entire Sustainability Office throughout the process and then each member completed a full review of the report upon completion.
