Description of the methodology and data source(s) used to identify the region served and its demographics:

Description of methodology: Counts of students were based on enrollment in the fall 2023 semester. This term was chosen because fall terms tend to be used for most comparisons and that term represents the most recent fall term with official enrollment data available. The region served was determined to be the state of New York. SUNY Cortland is part of the State University of New York, a system serving the entire state of New York. In particular, SUNY Cortland recruits students from throughout the state, with some emphasis in areas of higher population, such as New York City and Long Island. Demographics of New York were obtained from the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL; from https://dol.ny.gov/american-community-survey, accessed on 9/20/2024), last updated on 9/11/2024. Ratios used 1-year estimates to better align with use of fall 2023 enrollment.
