A brief description of the student research program, including the incentives provided and any positive outcomes during the previous three years:
Students enrolled in the Conservation Biology Program, Professional Science Masters in Sustainable Energy, and the MS/MSEd in Recreation are supported to conduct research in sustainability. Project examples include: investigating sustainability education in area schools and environmental education centers, research projects campus energy usage, campus garden organic growing techniques, and carbon offset research on campus forests.

The campus has multiple faculty research incentive programs that support sustainability research, however, none solely support sustainability research.

The Campus has a Center for Interdisciplinary Programs.
Since 2010, this Center has become a part of the Center for Gender and Intercultural Studies.
This Center provides guidelines for all campus efforts in interdisciplinary research.
With a board of 27 faculty members and 8 committees drawing about 90 faculty and staff members, CGIS has recast itself with a strong academic and scholarly mission.
