The meadow restoration project is a collaborative effort between SUNY Brockport (Dept. of Environmental Science and Ecology, the Sustainability Committee, Facilities and Planning), the Seneca Park Zoo, and OPN Seed Company. The purpose of the project is to remove invasive species from campus property and transform the habitat from managed mowed land into a native meadow that will benefit pollinator species such as birds and butterflies. Staff and students from the Department of Environmental Science and Ecology are collecting pre- and post-restoration vegetation and soil moisture data in order to assess restoration success and Facilities and Planning is responsible for site maintenance.
