1st Campaign
RecycleMania
A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:
Brockport participates in the RecycleMania tournament each year. This competition runs for 8 weeks in February and March and looks at the lowest waste generated per student for the 10-week period of the tournament. Brockport promotes RecycleMania in a variety of ways to help raise awareness about the importance of recycling. To kick off the tournament, members of the Brockport community take the pledge to recycle. Each residence hall competes to see which hall consistently recycled the most by each room placing their blue bin in the hallway on the designated day. Recycling related events such as RecycleMania encourage students to reduce waste.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
Most recently, as a result of the annual RecycleMania events, Brockport conducted an "I recycle, do you?" social media campaign, which included over 70 photos of people across campus promoting recycling. Following the success of the RecycleMania campaigh, Recycling Kiosks were purchased in cooperation with Facilities and Planning to encourage and promote more recycling on campus.
