A brief description of the diversity office:
OFFICE OF MULTICULTURAL STUDENT AFFAIRS Stark State College provides services to multicultural students to maximize access for educational opportunities and to create a campus environment that is representative of the racial and ethnic diversity in society at large. The goal of this commitment is to assist multicultural students in reaching personal, academic and career goals at Stark State and beyond. The Office of Multicultural Affairs is available to provide: • academic, personal and group counseling • referrals for scholarships, financial assistance, career counseling, tutoring, mentoring and internship programs • coordination of various services with academic and non-academic Stark State offices Other support activities include: • coordinating communications between the student services office and the multicultural student community • liaison between Stark State and various community agencies • promotion of cultural diversity programs. A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:
The Director of Multicultural Student Affairs will provide leadership and administration in the development and implementation of services and programs for multicultural students. The incumbent in this job is expected to work with students, faculty, staff, and other community constituents to strengthen and enhance the efforts of the College towards developing a more culturally sensitive campus community, and provide quality programs that strengthen connections both within the campus community and with local community organizations. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for developing strategic initiatives that address the goals and objectives set forth in the mission of the department and the college as a whole. This function will provide short-and long-range planning and promotion of services for the Department. The incumbent is responsible for establishing goals, objectives, and strategies for the Department.
