Does the institution have a surplus department or formal office supplies exchange program that facilitates reuse of materials?:
Yes
None
A brief description of the program:
Campus wide email is utilized detailing items that a department no longer has use for that could possibly be used somewhere else at the college. The same process is utilized for usable furniture before we make the items available to the public.
A staff member is assigned to handle surplus at the campus. Items that have remaining useful life are evaluated to determine if they can be used elsewhere in the college and if so the item is recycled within, if the college has no further use of the items we put them out on our surplus page for sale to the public. Items that can’t be used internally and are not sold on our surplus page are properly disposed of by our facilities department or removed by an escrap company that is handled by our Academic Tech Services Department.
