A brief description of steps taken to ensure that e-waste is recycled responsibly, workers’ basic safety is protected, and environmental standards are met:

The vendor used for recycling materials, Green Light, LLC, is responsible for safe handling and recycling of the materials. The Information Technology Department segregates and stores electronic waste and batteries for disposal by an approved professional electronic waste vendor. Employees have been instructed to not throw these items into the “regular” dumpster. (computers, batteries, anything with electrical circuit boards)

A brief description of the electronic waste recycling program for student-generated materials :

E-Waste
Stark State College provides opportunities for the entire campus community to recycle e-waste at the beginning of every term free of charge. Items that can be recycled include computers, monitors, cell phones, DVD players, VCR’s, printers, copier equipment, cameras, game systems, etc.

Cell Phones
Collection bins are located in the Interfaith Campus Ministry Office K104 located on the first floor of the North Academic Building. The phones are collected and donated to Verizon Wireless. Phones in good condition are donated to the Domestic Violence Project. Unusable phones are responsibly recycled.

Alkaline- Nickel Batteries
Batteries can be recycled in the Timken Building lobby on the first floor (Bldg. C). A local company, Green Light, LLC is responsible for picking up and recycling the batteries.
