Stanford's Welcome Center offers a full-day orientation for onboarding new staff. Sustainability is a component of the new hire experience throughout. For instance, during orientation:
• New staff are given the recommendation to view the Sustainable Stanford website.
• A slide is dedicated to the responsibilities and the sustainable practices of Stanford employees
• There is a presentation on Stanford’s transportation programs, including its efforts to encourage sustainable transportation through commuter incentives, ridematching, free and discounted transit, and other transportation demand management programs
• There is an opportunity for individual Q&A on commute planning and other transportation-related questions
• Free transit passes, including the Caltrain Go Pass and VTA Eco Pass, are distributed to eligible new employees
