A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
Stanford's new employee orientation program (Onboarding@Stanford) consists of a full-day program for onboarding new staff. Sustainability is a component of the new hire experience through the following:
• Prior to attending the orientation, new staff are given the recommendation to view the Stanford Sustainable Living Video.
• During orientation, a slide is dedicated to the responsibilities and the sustainable practices of Stanford employees.
• A presentation is given on Stanford’s transportation programs, including its efforts to encourage sustainable transportation through commuter incentives, ridematching, free and discounted transit, and other transportation demand management programs. This is followed by individual Q&A on commute planning and other transportation-related questions, and the distribution of free transit passes, including the Caltrain Go Pass and VTA Eco Pass, to eligible new employees.
