A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed :
Stanford is a member of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative (http://www.climatesaverscomputing.org/), and thus has an institution-wide stated preference for EPEAT Silver or higher rated computers and monitors. At the present time, 100% of university-recommended systems are EPEAT Gold. Vendors have agreed to ship computers energy saving features turned "on" (fully enabled). In addition to the EPEAT requirements, all Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for copiers, printers, servers, and computers that route through the procurement office now include both Energy Star and end-of-life recycling requirements.
