A brief description of the institution’s LGBTQ-inclusive policies, programs and practices:
St. Lawrence University's LGBTQ Student Services is a collaborative interdepartmental initiative aiming to provide advocacy, information, and resources for LGBTQ students, allies, and the overall community of St. Lawrence University. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved with the LGBTQ community of St. Lawrence University and the local area through organizations ranging from student-run groups, such as Sexuality and Gender Activists (SaGA) and LGBTetc., as well as community advocacy organizations. SaGA works towards raising awareness of gender issues that arise on campus. This group strives to encourage equality among all and provide a space for those in the LGBTxyz community to feel safe and well represented among the student body. SaGA also works to promote safe sex, consent, education on sexuality and gender, and providing condoms as necessary. LGBTetc.'s main aim is to promote awareness and acceptance of diversity on the St. Lawrence University Campus. Meetings will focus on discussions, games, viewings, and other forms of media addressing the topics of the LGBT community. This group hopes to bring about a social and more informed environment on this campus, and is aimed towards any individual interested in getting to know more, no matter what their views or personal background. LGBTetc. seeks also to interest more of the student body to become allies- people who identify as heterosexual, but support the LGBT community.
