A brief description of the technology used:
We installed vending machine sensors on most of our machines in summer of 2007 only to find that they were causing damage to the ID card readers on our machines. Repairing these damages were more costly and unsustainable (as they contain parts with precious metals) than any energy savings. All motion sensors were removed as were the vending machines that had low usage.
