Embracing inclusion in higher education is a vital component of a strategy to foster innovation and creativity. Inclusion brings openness to new ideas, a more creative student body and workforce, access to a wider range of talent, and most importantly, fosters a sense of belonging for all. St. Lawrence College is committed to providing an inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment. To this end, the School of Contemporary Teaching and Learning (SCTL) has developed a training program aimed at staff and faculty in order to assist them in creating culturally competent and inclusive educational work spaces at the College, to ensure all members of the College community are affirmed and supported. The training program entitled “Inclusion Matters at SLC” is a four module program that seeks to engage the St. Lawrence community in conversations, discovery, and learning about equity and inclusion principals and to provide resources, knowledge, and tools required to make St. Lawrence College an inclusive campus.
