Part 2. Electronic waste diversion
Does the institution have or participate in a program to responsibly recycle, reuse, and/or refurbish electronic waste generated by students?:
If yes to either of the above, provide:
SLC partners with the Electronic Recycling Association (https://www.era.ca/) to offer tri-campus e-waste recycling to staff, students and to our local communities. The recycling program in 2018 and has been growing year over year. Collection bins are housed in each IT headquarters and are open to the SLC community. The IT department also utilizes this program in all electronic replacement projects (i.e. any computers/equipment used in college operations that replaced with new models are recycled through the e-waste program). We also work with our partners at the ERA to offer these services to the local community through annual e-waste drives where surrounding areas are encouraged to drop off e-waste that is properly recycled or even refurbished.
Is the institution’s electronic waste recycler certified under the e-Stewards and/or Responsible Recycling (R2) standards?:
