St. Lawrence College's purchasing policy for IT equipment outlines that computers and IT equipment purchased by the college must be EPEAT certified by the Global Electronics Council at the Gold level.

All computers purchased by the college are certified by EPEAT. EPEAT criteria are driven by global leaders and developed through a voluntary consensus process with a balanced and wide range of stakeholders. These leadership criteria address the most critical sustainability impact areas across the electronics life cycle, from materials extraction to end-of-life – Climate Change, Chemicals of Concern, Circularity and Sustainable Use of Resources, and Responsible Sourcing. See EPEAT criteria here

Further, all old or expiring IT products are disposed through our e-waste recycling program that operates on the three campuses: the Electronics Recycling Association (ERA) picks up these products and ensures that they are repurposed or recycled correctly.
