Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
The Student Association Food Pantry is a vital resource on our campus funded through student fees. Our mission is to help reduce food insecurity among our student population. We offer a range of essential services, including the SNAK program, which provides emergency food assistance, holiday meals for students in need, food markets, additionally, we organize events like Chili Days to offer hot and nourishing meals to students. We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment as we take steps to combat food insecurity on our campus.
SNAK (Student Nutrition Assistance Kit) is a program created and operated by the SA in an effort to help reduce food insecurity issues amongst students on campus. This program encompasses our emergency food program and other food related events. At the Student Association, we understand and are aware of the growing issue of food insecurity among post-secondary students. We created SNAK to ensure that students in emergent need are taken care of, while offering a subsidized food option for students who wish to access healthy food at the best possible price
