The Low Carbon Building Skills Project is a year-long project led by St. Lawrence College (Kingston campus) that takes a holistic view of how building diverse skills in jobs such as electrical, carpentry, industrial, plumbing, engineering, environmental technologies, energy systems engineering and others, must now integrate under the ‘green building’ banner. In this way, the project ensures that skilled trades workers understand how their work relates to and affects not just other trades, but the carbon and greenhouse gas profile of the entire building. The LCBS Project is applying this integrated approach to the curriculum development process and then incorporates the resulting curriculum into existing college programs. The resource will be shared with other project partners, which included Algonquin College and Fleming College.
