A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
All new students are provided a Welcome Package which features a section on SLC's commitment to sustainability. This section highlights key sustainability initiatives at the College and what sustainability programs are available to students, and how students can take part in furthering sustainability at SLC. The guide also includes information about waste sorting, student, sustainability club opportunities, the resusable coffee cup and container program, etc.
Students attending orientation are invited to learn more about sustainability-related initiatives on-campus at the Sustainability Office booth and the Footprint-Sustainability Student Club booth. These booths include information on how to get involved, SDG information, and an overview of our annual sustainability offerings. An additional focus point at orientation is waste sorting and familarizing new students with diversion practices. Additional signage and bins are monitored at orientation events to ensure landfill waste is reduced on the day. At SLC's residence, all incoming students are provided a Recycling Guide to engage students in sustainability and help them to understand what is recyclable and what is not.
