A brief description of the student sustainability research program:
The College’s Sustainable Energy Applied Research Centre (SEARC) is a group of energy industry and faculty researchers. Closely linked to the Energy Systems, Wind Turbine, and Instrumentation and Control Programs, SEARC’s mission is to provide applied research services to small and medium-sized enterprises in the renewable energy industry within the Eastern Ontario region. SEARC provides select students with unique opportunities for part-time employment working on real world problems.
The college has also fostered a partnership in research and student experience with the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences (River Institute) is an incorporated non-profit education and research institution in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. The River Institute operates out of our Cornwall Campus and offers students from the Environmental Technician Program the opportunity to work on joint research projects and therefore benefit in the form of work experience and mentorship. The River Institute’s mandate is research, education and community action relating to large river systems, with a focus on the St. Lawrence River ecosystem. The College’s mandate is to promote education and expand partnerships with other institutions to build a secure future for the local community. This partnership contributes to the College’s educational mandate through offering environmental educational and research programs.
