A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
The survey was emailed students with the incentive for the chance to win a Via Rail gift card. Students were given a week in December 2017 to respond. At that time 583 students voted. The survey asked the students how they commuted to campus and gave them 5 options of carpooling, biking, walking, transit, and driving.
