A brief description of the event(s):
Various events are held each year with the purpose of informing students about sustainability issues, our local and global environments and courses of action for a positive sustainability future. These events are hosted by the collaborations of Earth Club, Science Department, Learning Communities and other interested parties. the following events, guests and speakers have been included in our sustainability events for the school year 2009- 2010. Managing Sustainability provided students access to a panel of prominent New York City Business people in an effot to connect Sustainability with management and the business world; Jim Gennaro of the New York City Council on sustainability issues in our community; John Klar of the Grow NYC recycling outreach and education program; Julia Corwin of Queens Botanic Gardens and the NYC Compost program; Dr. Eugene Stevens of SUNY Binghamton on Green Plastics.
