2.1 Public sustainability commitment

SSN’s environmental policy is intended
- To create awareness among faculty and students on the three pillars of sustainable development (Economic, Environmental and Social), conservation of natural resources and environment regulations.
- To enable faculty and students to develop environmental friendly technologies and engineering designs leading to circular economy.
- To help the faculty and students to develop conservation oriented attitude and to concentrate in the development of rural population.
- To incorporate eco-friendly practices such as Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, in each institutional activity
- To train the students to adopt fair, ethical and environment friendly approach and make them as responsible citizen of this biosphere
Policy Objectives:
SSN environmental policy has the following objectives:
- To educate and engage students and employees on environmental concerns and sustainability
- To recognize and appreciate the efforts of students and employees towards environment conservation and sustainable development
- To promote innovation and start-up for business development towards achieving circular economy.
- To develop R&D programs that could turn SSN into carbon negative institution
- To include environmental policy in all related and applicable activities
- To take into account the environment, occupational health and safety aspects in planning and decision-making.
- To encourage rural development and to provide rural population with professional resource support from SSN.

Climate resilience Assessment- Carbon Footprint assessment
Shiv Nadar Foundation have taken initiatives towards Climate Change and GHG accounting practice has been adopted as our first step towards our climate action. We realized that GHG accounting is also about demonstrating transparency and accountability to stakeholders. GHG accounting also has a number of other benefits for organizations. It can help them to identify opportunities for cost savings in energy use and improving the efficiency of their operations. It can also help them to stay ahead of regulatory requirements and avoid potential penalties for non-compliance.

VISION- "Inspiring students to embrace and apply the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, motivating them to align their actions with these global objectives. Encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices within the community."
OBJECTIVES
- Elevating Sustainability Literacy: Educate on the 17 SDG goals and ensure their integration at the college level through comprehensive learning and practical implementation.
- Resource Conservation: Implement initiatives to reduce resource consumption, promote recycling, and minimize the club's environmental footprint.
- Raising Awareness: Increase awareness and understanding of environmental issues and sustainable living practices among club members and the wider community.
- Organize Green Activities: Organize and participate in events that promote sustainability, such as tree plantations, clean-up drives, and workshops on eco-friendly practices.
- Student Empowerment: Empower students to research sustainable technologies, innovations, and practices, and explore ways to implement these findings within the community.
